Q: How do I take credit cards as payment for my stuff?
A: To accept credit cards you need a merchant account and to do realtime transactions you need a payment gateway. If you need to sign up for a Merchant Account and/or Payment Gateway Click Here to request a courtesy call from our Merchant Services partner. He will call you to answer your questions and help you get started. Tell him your a FutureCart customer and he'll hook you up with just what you want. This is the recommended Merchant Company and Payment gateway for FutureCart not because we get a commission but because it works and it's easy to use. Plus it's priced better or as good as any alternatives, and it's the best way to run your FutureCart store if you want to take credit cards.
Q: What is a payment gateway?
A: A payment gatway is used in conjunction with your Merchant Account to do real time transactions. A payment gateway required a Merchant account to work. What happens is when a customer clicks the final submit button on your checkout page, the payment gatway uses the secure server to transmit the credit card info to get processed. It returns back either accepted or rejected, and one of two things happen. If the payment is good the amount of the purchase gets sent to your merchant account which in turn deposits the money into your bank account.
Q: Secure Server explained A: A secure server is what protects your customers personal data from anyone else when they checkout of you online store. FutureCart uses industry standard secure server from VeriSign. This is inclued in your FutureCart subscription. When viewing your checkout page you will notice the URL starts with https:// instead of http:// and it will show a lock in the bottom area of your browser. The complete URL will be like this: https://secure.fastcart.com/
